Discipleship Coaching Workshop

Discipleship coaching is the "secret sauce" for helping individuals in your congregation take the next steps on their spiritual journey.

Qualities of a discipleship coach:

  • A Christian mature enough on their own walk to be able to provide guidance to others.
  • An active listener. Someone who can discern quickly the meaning behind what people are saying and hear God's Spirit in each believer.
  • An encourager. A person who sees the best in people. Someone who can challenge others to use their Spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, passions and experiences for the Kingdom.
  • A person committed to the ministry who is familiar enough with the church to be able to connect someone with the appropriate leaders or ministry areas.

Topics include:

  • What is coaching?
  • What coaching is NOT
  • Building blocks of coaching
  • Deep listening
  • What is discipleship?
  • Discipleship coaching session
  • Sample pre-work
  • Spiritual disciplines

Options for groups of churches, district, conference:

Good: One-hour webinar delivered over Zoom which includes an overview of the main concepts.

Better: Two-hour session which focuses on an overview of main concepts and an introduction to deep listening.

Best: Four-hour session which covers all of the concepts and includes a section where each person can practice what they have learned by doing a real discipleship coaching session.

Bonus: The four-hour session pairs well with the half-day discipleship pathway workshop to create an impactful full day of learning!

"When you relate to a person as a faith coach, you participate in the work of the Spirit by coming alongside people as an advocate and helper." Hall, Cooper, and McElveen from the book, Faith Coaching
